Knee surgery pain relief showdown: which nerve block combo wins?
NCT ID NCT07324486
First seen Jun 24, 2026 · Last updated Jun 27, 2026 · Updated 1 time
Summary
This study will compare two different nerve block combinations used alongside standard anesthesia for total knee replacement surgery. One group gets an adductor canal block plus an iPACK block, while the other gets an adductor canal block plus a genicular nerve block. The goal is to see which combination provides better pain relief and helps patients regain function faster. The trial plans to enroll 50 adults and has not yet started recruiting.
What this could mean
Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only — not medical advice or a prediction.
Active substance
nerve blocks (adductor canal block, iPACK block, genicular nerve block) with local anesthetic (bupivacaine)
What this could lead to
If one nerve block combination works better, it could mean less pain and faster recovery after knee replacement surgery.
What could go wrong
This is a small, early-stage trial with only 50 participants, so results may not apply to everyone. The study hasn't started yet, and there is always a chance neither method proves clearly better.
