NCT ID NCT05877027
First seen Jun 26, 2026 · Last updated Jun 26, 2026
Summary
This completed study compared three common treatments for knee osteoarthritis (gonarthrosis) in 82 adults aged 40–65. Participants received either platelet-rich plasma (PRP) injections, topical diclofenac gel, or a structured exercise program for 6 weeks. The goal was to see which approach best reduces pain, improves function, and boosts quality of life. Results may help guide treatment choices for this common condition.
What this could mean
Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only — not medical advice or a prediction.
Active substance
platelet-rich plasma (PRP), topical diclofenac, and exercise
What this could lead to
If this study shows one approach works better, it could help doctors choose the most effective treatment for knee osteoarthritis symptoms.
What could go wrong
This is a small, completed study with no phase designation, so results may not apply to everyone. PRP and exercise effects vary, and topical diclofenac may cause skin irritation.
