NCT ID NCT07561125

First seen Jun 25, 2026 · Last updated Jun 27, 2026 · Updated 1 time

Summary

This phase 2 trial tests whether intravenous immunoglobulin (IVIG) can help treat bronchopulmonary dysplasia (BPD), a serious lung condition, in premature infants born at 28 weeks or earlier. The study will give IVIG to 29 babies and track their breathing support needs and lung health over time. The goal is to see if IVIG reduces the severity of BPD and improves long-term outcomes.

What this could mean

Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only — not medical advice or a prediction.

Active substance

intravenous immunoglobulin (IVIG)

What this could lead to

If it works, this could point toward a treatment to reduce lung damage and improve breathing in very premature infants.

What could go wrong

This is a small, early-phase trial with only 29 participants, so results may not apply broadly. IVIG can cause side effects like allergic reactions or infections.
