Lung bath chemo during surgery aims to wipe out hidden sarcoma cells

NCT ID NCT02811523

First seen Jun 27, 2026 · Last updated Jun 27, 2026

Summary

This early-phase study tests a technique called in vivo lung perfusion (IVLP) that delivers chemotherapy directly into the lung during surgery to remove sarcoma tumors that have spread to the lungs. The goal is to kill any tiny cancer cells left behind that could cause the cancer to come back, while reducing side effects on the rest of the body. About 17 people with sarcoma in both lungs will take part. One lung will get the IVLP treatment and the other will receive standard care, so doctors can compare safety and effects.
