Lung bath chemotherapy during surgery may target hidden sarcoma cells

NCT ID NCT02811523

First seen Dec 08, 2025 · Last updated May 15, 2026 · Updated 24 times

Summary

This early-phase study tests a technique called in vivo lung perfusion (IVLP), where chemotherapy is delivered directly into one lung during surgery to remove sarcoma tumors that have spread there. The goal is to kill any remaining microscopic cancer cells while reducing side effects on the rest of the body. About 17 people with sarcoma in both lungs will take part, and the other lung will receive standard treatment for comparison. The study focuses on safety and finding the best dose.
