First seen Jun 24, 2026 · Last updated Jun 27, 2026 · Updated 1 time
Summary
This pilot study is testing a new smartphone app called Healthmine that pairs data from a continuous glucose monitor and a Fitbit. Thirty young adults aged 16-24 who were diagnosed with type 2 diabetes before age 18 will use the app for 30 days. The goal is to see if the app is easy to use and to gather feedback on health behavior messages.
What this could mean
Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only — not medical advice or a prediction.
Active substance
Healthmine smartphone app with continuous glucose monitor and Fitbit
What this could lead to
If successful, this could lead to a better tool for helping young adults with type 2 diabetes manage their blood sugar and activity levels.
What could go wrong
This is a very small pilot study with only 30 people, so results may not apply to everyone. The app is still being developed and may not be easy to use or effective.
