New blood filter aims to speed recovery in ICU patients on life support

NCT ID NCT06179771

First seen Jun 27, 2026 · Last updated Jun 27, 2026

Summary

This study tests a blood filter called HA380 in 40 critically ill adults (ages 18-65) who need dialysis or ECMO due to severe infection, injury, or major surgery. The filter is added to their life-support circuit to remove inflammatory substances from the blood. Researchers want to see if this approach is practical and whether it reduces time on breathing machines, blood pressure drugs, and in the ICU.
