NCT ID NCT07205913
First seen Jun 26, 2026 · Last updated Jun 27, 2026 · Updated 1 time
Summary
This study looks at how gut bacteria are linked to obesity and type 2 diabetes in New Caledonia, where these conditions are very common. Researchers will collect blood, urine, and stool samples from 270 adults to analyze their gut microbes and related chemicals. The goal is to better understand these diseases in this population, not to test a new treatment.
What this could mean
Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only — not medical advice or a prediction.
What this could lead to
If successful, this could reveal how gut bacteria influence obesity and diabetes, pointing toward future dietary or probiotic interventions.
What could go wrong
This is an observational study, not a treatment trial. It will not directly improve health, and findings may not apply to other populations.
