First seen Jan 12, 2026 · Last updated May 13, 2026 · Updated 21 times
Summary
This study looks at whether general anesthesia (being fully asleep) or spinal anesthesia (numbing the lower body) is better for people having knee or hip replacement as outpatient surgery. The main goal is to see which method helps patients go home the same day without needing to come back to the hospital. 600 adults will be randomly assigned to one of the two anesthesia types and followed for a year.
