First seen Jun 06, 2026 · Last updated Jun 11, 2026 · Updated 1 time

Summary

This study tests whether galantamine, a drug already approved for Alzheimer's, can help treat metabolic syndrome in people with chronic spinal cord injury (SCI). Metabolic syndrome is a cluster of conditions like high blood pressure and obesity that raise the risk of heart disease. The study will enroll 60 adults with SCI who use wheelchairs and have a large waist circumference, measuring how well they tolerate the drug and if it reduces inflammation.
