First seen Jun 25, 2026 · Last updated Jun 27, 2026 · Updated 1 time

Summary

This study tests whether adding a nasal spray drug called dexmedetomidine to the standard medication pregabalin can better relieve pain in people with fibromyalgia. The trial will enroll 400 adults with moderate to severe fibromyalgia who haven't found relief from non-drug treatments. Participants will receive either pregabalin alone or pregabalin plus dexmedetomidine, and their pain levels will be tracked over four weeks.

What this could lead to

If it works, this could offer a more effective pain relief option for people with fibromyalgia, with fewer side effects than current treatments.

What could go wrong

This is an early-stage trial with no phase designation, so results are uncertain. The combination may not provide significantly better pain relief and could cause unexpected side effects.
