First seen Mar 10, 2026 · Last updated May 14, 2026 · Updated 9 times

Summary

This study tested whether fecal microbiota transplantation (FMT) — giving healthy donor gut bacteria in a capsule — can improve sleep in people with chronic insomnia. 80 adults took either FMT capsules or placebo starch capsules. Researchers measured sleep quality using sleep studies and questionnaires to see if the gut bacteria helped them sleep better.
