New blood test could spot colon cancer in young adults before It's too late
NCT ID NCT06342401
First seen Jun 25, 2026 · Last updated Jun 27, 2026 · Updated 1 time
Summary
This study is developing a blood test that uses tiny particles called exosomes and machine learning to detect colorectal cancer in people under 50. The test looks for specific microRNA patterns in the blood. Researchers will compare results from 400 people—some with cancer and some without—to see how accurate the test is. If it works, it could offer a non-invasive way to catch this cancer early.
What this could mean
Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only — not medical advice or a prediction.
Active substance
blood test measuring microRNA from exosomes and cell-free particles
What this could lead to
If successful, this could provide a simple, non-invasive blood test to catch early-onset colorectal cancer sooner, potentially saving lives.
What could go wrong
This is still an early-stage study with 400 participants. The test may not be accurate enough for widespread use, and results need validation in larger, more diverse groups.
