Sweat and surgery: a One-Two punch against nerve damage?

NCT ID NCT03617185

First seen Jun 27, 2026 · Last updated Jun 27, 2026

Summary

This study looked at whether high-intensity interval training (HIIT) or weight-loss surgery can reduce the risk of nerve damage (peripheral neuropathy) in people with obesity. About 140 adults who were candidates for bariatric surgery took part. Researchers measured nerve health using skin biopsies and eye scans to see if these interventions help protect nerves.
