Stomach sleeve without surgery may fight fatty liver disease
NCT ID NCT04820036
First seen Jan 08, 2026 · Last updated May 10, 2026 · Updated 24 times
Summary
This study tests whether a non-surgical stomach reduction procedure, called endoscopic sleeve gastroplasty (ESG), can improve liver health in people with obesity and advanced NASH (a severe form of fatty liver disease). Researchers will measure changes in liver function and pressure in the liver's main blood vessel over 12 months. The goal is to see if weight loss from ESG can reduce liver damage and scarring.
