New obesity drug eloralintide enters early human testing
NCT ID NCT07665879
First seen Jun 24, 2026 · Last updated Jun 27, 2026 · Updated 2 times
Summary
This early-stage study tests whether a new drug, eloralintide, can improve how the body responds to insulin and manage weight in 115 adults with overweight or obesity. Participants will receive either the drug or a placebo injection and be monitored for about 35 weeks. The goal is to see if eloralintide can improve metabolic health, but because it is a Phase 1 trial, the main focus is on safety and how the body processes the drug.
What this could mean
Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only — not medical advice or a prediction.
Active substance
eloralintide (a drug injection)
What this could lead to
If it works, this could point toward a new treatment for obesity and related metabolic problems like insulin resistance.
What could go wrong
This is a very early Phase 1 trial with only 115 people, so it may not show clear benefits or could have side effects. Success is far from guaranteed.
