Drugs and therapy together: a new hope for anxiety, depression, and more?
NCT ID NCT06993662
First seen Jun 27, 2026 · Last updated Jun 27, 2026
Summary
This early-stage study is testing whether combining standard psychiatric medications (like antidepressants and anti-anxiety drugs) with individual cognitive behavioral therapy can improve symptoms and daily functioning in people with anxiety, depression, PTSD, OCD, bipolar disorder, schizophrenia, and personality disorders. About 107 participants aged 18-65 will receive the combined treatment in a private practice setting. The study measures changes in thinking, mood, and overall recovery over time.
What this could mean
Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only — not medical advice or a prediction.
Active substance
combination of anxiety and depression medications (anxiolytics and antidepressants) plus cognitive behavioral therapy
What this could lead to
If it works, this could point toward a more effective way to manage multiple mental health conditions by combining standard drugs with talk therapy.
What could go wrong
This is a very early Phase 1 study with no control group, so results may not be reliable. The wide range of conditions and lack of blinding make it hard to know if the combination is truly better than either treatment alone.
