First seen Jun 25, 2026 · Last updated Jun 27, 2026 · Updated 1 time
Summary
This study is testing whether wearing a smartwatch and getting personalized health coaching through a mobile app can help people with high blood pressure, diabetes, obesity, or related conditions improve their lifestyle. About 1,700 adults aged 21-75 will wear a smartwatch for at least 8 hours a day and receive nudges and remote coaching for 6 months. The goal is to see if this approach increases physical activity and helps manage or prevent chronic diseases.

What this could lead to
If it works, this could show that wearable technology and remote coaching are effective tools for helping people manage or prevent chronic conditions like high blood pressure and diabetes.
What could go wrong
This is an early-stage study without a control group, so results may not prove cause and effect. Success depends on participants consistently wearing the smartwatch and following coaching advice.
