Diabetes may weaken healing power of natural blood membranes
NCT ID NCT07672652
First seen Jun 29, 2026 · Last updated Jul 01, 2026 · Updated 2 times
Summary
This study investigates whether type 2 diabetes changes the levels of key growth factors and inflammatory markers in Albumin Platelet-Rich Fibrin (Alb-PRF) membranes—a blood-derived material used to support wound healing and dental tissue repair. Researchers will compare Alb-PRF samples from 10 people with type 2 diabetes and 10 healthy volunteers, measuring interleukin-6, epidermal growth factor, and insulin-like growth factor-1. The goal is to understand if diabetes alters the biological makeup of these membranes, which could affect their effectiveness in regenerative treatments.
What this could mean
Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only — not medical advice or a prediction.
Active substance
Albumin platelet-rich fibrin (Alb-PRF) membranes
What this could lead to
If diabetes alters the composition of Alb-PRF, this could guide personalized regenerative treatments for people with diabetes.
What could go wrong
This is a small, early observational study with only 20 participants. It measures biomarkers, not clinical outcomes, so real-world impact is uncertain.
