Can a smart monitor improve blood sugar control for dialysis patients?
NCT ID NCT06641765
First seen Jun 26, 2026 · Last updated Jun 27, 2026 · Updated 1 time
Summary
This study tests whether using a continuous glucose monitor (CGM) helps dialysis patients with type 1 or type 2 diabetes control their blood sugar better than standard finger-prick tests. 96 participants will be split into three groups: standard care, intermittent CGM use, or continuous CGM use for 9 months. The goal is to see if CGM increases the time blood sugar stays in a healthy range.
What this could mean
Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only — not medical advice or a prediction.
Active substance
Continuous Glucose Monitor (Dexcom G7)
What this could lead to
If successful, this could show that CGM helps dialysis patients better manage their blood sugar and reduce complications.
What could go wrong
This is a relatively small, early-stage study (96 participants) and may not prove long-term benefits. The device may not be accurate or practical for all dialysis patients.
