New powder dressing aims to ease burn pain
NCT ID NCT05424354
First seen Jun 24, 2026 · Last updated Jun 27, 2026 · Updated 1 time
Summary
This study compares a new powder dressing called Altrazeal to standard burn dressings in adults with partial thickness burns. The goal is to see if the new dressing reduces pain during changes and helps wounds heal faster. Sixty hospitalized patients will be randomly assigned to one of the two treatments and followed for up to 28 days.
What this could mean
Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only — not medical advice or a prediction.
Active substance
Altrazeal Transforming Powder Dressing (a device)
What this could lead to
If it works, this could offer a less painful dressing option for burn patients and potentially speed up healing.
What could go wrong
This is a small, early-stage trial with only 60 participants, so results may not apply to everyone. The new dressing might not be better than current standard care.
