First seen May 05, 2026 · Last updated May 13, 2026 · Updated 3 times

Summary

This study uses a safe, noninvasive light-based device (fNIRS) to measure brain activity in 200 adults with depression, bipolar disorder, or mild cognitive impairment. By comparing brain patterns across groups, researchers hope to better understand how these conditions affect the brain. Participants will wear a cap that shines near-infrared light on the scalp to track blood oxygen changes while completing tasks.
