New cuff design could save pregnant women from unnecessary C-Sections

NCT ID NCT06466161

First seen Apr 25, 2026 · Last updated May 08, 2026 · Updated 1 time

Summary

This study tests whether a cone-shaped blood pressure cuff placed on the forearm gives more accurate readings than the standard cylindrical cuff on the upper arm in pregnant women. Researchers will enroll 110 women with different body sizes and blood pressure levels to see if the new cuff reduces errors. Better accuracy could help doctors avoid misdiagnosing hypertension, which may prevent unnecessary treatments and early deliveries.
