NCT ID NCT06336616
First seen Jun 27, 2026 ยท Last updated Jun 27, 2026
Summary
This study tests a behavioral program called SWITCH that teaches people with serious mental illness (like depression, schizophrenia, or bipolar disorder) to set goals, use rewards, and build habits to do more activities outside the home. 52 participants will attend weekly online sessions for 10 weeks, then monthly sessions for 3 months. Researchers will track their activity, mood, and GPS location to see if the program helps them participate more in their community.
What this could mean
Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only โ not medical advice or a prediction.
- Active substance
- Behavioral activation program (SWITCH)
- What this could lead to
- If it works, this could point toward a simple, non-drug way to help people with serious mental illness feel more engaged and active in their communities.
- What could go wrong
- This is a small, early study with no control group, so results may not be generalizable. The intervention requires internet access and willingness to carry a GPS phone, which may limit who can participate.
