Can a phone app calm anxiety in movement disorders?
NCT ID NCT07213648
First seen Jun 26, 2026 · Last updated Jul 21, 2026 · Updated 3 times
Summary
This study is testing a smartphone app called MindTrails-Movement to see if it can help reduce anxiety in people with Huntington's or Parkinson's disease. The app uses a technique called cognitive bias modification for interpretation (CBM-I) to train users to think less negatively in ambiguous situations. About 136 participants will either use the active app or a waitlist control version, and their anxiety levels will be measured over time.
What this could mean
Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only — not medical advice or a prediction.
- Active substance
- MindTrails-Movement app (cognitive bias modification for interpretation training)
- What this could lead to
- If it works, this app could provide a simple, non-drug way to ease anxiety for people with these movement disorders.
- What could go wrong
- This is an early-stage study with no prior proof of efficacy. The app may not reduce anxiety more than a placebo, and results may not apply to everyone.
