Heart fix combo: ablation plus exercise may boost oxygen in stiff heart failure
NCT ID NCT06650995
First seen Jun 25, 2026 · Last updated Jun 27, 2026 · Updated 1 time
Summary
This study looks at whether combining a heart procedure called ablation with a 12-week home exercise program can improve how well the body uses oxygen in people with a type of heart failure (HFpEF) and a common heart rhythm problem (atrial fibrillation). About 40 participants will be enrolled. The goal is to see if the combination works better than either treatment alone.
What this could mean
Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only — not medical advice or a prediction.
Active substance
exercise training and heart ablation
What this could lead to
If it works, this could point toward a combined treatment approach that improves exercise capacity and heart function in patients with both heart failure and atrial fibrillation.
What could go wrong
This is a small, early-phase study with only 40 participants, so results may not apply to everyone. The exercise program is short (12 weeks), and long-term benefits are unknown.
