First seen Jan 11, 2026 · Last updated May 18, 2026 · Updated 26 times

Summary

This study tested a new device called the Supernova stent retriever to treat acute ischemic stroke, which happens when a blood clot blocks blood flow to the brain. The device is designed to remove the clot and restore blood flow. The trial involved 54 adults aged 18-85 who had a stroke and could be treated within 24 hours of symptoms starting. The main goals were to see if the device could successfully reopen the blocked artery and to check for safety issues like bleeding in the brain.
