Can brain scans and gut bacteria predict suicide risk in young people?

NCT ID NCT07188506

First seen Jun 27, 2026 · Last updated Jun 27, 2026

Summary

This study aims to better understand why young people (ages 18-25) with mood disorders may be at risk for suicide. Researchers will collect clinical, brain imaging, genetic, and microbiome data from 180 participants to identify risk factors. They will also test whether a non-invasive brain stimulation technique called deep transcranial magnetic stimulation (dTMS) can reduce suicidal thoughts and behaviors. The goal is to develop personalized prevention and treatment strategies.
