Shake it off: vibration therapy tested for Post-Surgery recovery
NCT ID NCT07602959
First seen Jun 24, 2026 · Last updated Jun 27, 2026 · Updated 1 time
Summary
This study looks at whether whole body vibration can improve muscle function, physical fitness, and breathing in people who have had bariatric surgery. Sixty adults who had surgery at least 6 weeks ago will be split into three groups: one does vibration exercises, one does resistance band exercises, and one just walks. All programs last 6 weeks. The goal is to see if vibration therapy offers extra benefits over standard recovery.
What this could mean
Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only — not medical advice or a prediction.
Active substance
Whole body vibration
What this could lead to
If it works, this could point toward a simple, drug-free way to help people regain muscle strength and fitness after weight-loss surgery.
What could go wrong
This is a small, early-stage study with only 60 people. The results may not apply to everyone, and the benefits of vibration therapy are still unproven.
