NCT ID NCT02043457
First seen Jun 26, 2026 · Last updated Jun 26, 2026
Summary
This study from the University of Michigan is recruiting 3,200 people to understand why some people lose weight and keep it off while others struggle. Participants will undergo a range of tests, including blood work, body composition scans, and fitness assessments. The goal is to identify biological and behavioral factors that predict weight loss success, moving away from a one-size-fits-all approach to obesity treatment.
What this could mean
Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only — not medical advice or a prediction.
What this could lead to
If successful, this could lead to personalized weight loss plans based on individual biology and lifestyle, making weight management more effective.
What could go wrong
This is an observational study, not a treatment trial. It may not find clear predictors, and results may not apply to everyone with obesity.
