NCT ID NCT06977815
First seen Jun 27, 2026 · Last updated Jun 27, 2026
Summary
This study tested whether adding virtual reality (VR) to standard computer-based cognitive training could improve memory, attention, and thinking skills in older adults with mild cognitive impairment. 70 participants completed a 12-week program of cognitive exercises, with one group also using a VR headset for 15-20 minutes per session. Researchers measured changes in cognitive tests and gathered feedback on how users experienced the VR system.

What this could lead to
If it works, this could point toward a more engaging way to help older adults with mild memory problems maintain or improve their thinking skills.
What could go wrong
This is a small, early-stage study with no control group for the VR component, so results may not be conclusive. The benefits might be small or not last long-term.
