Video games vs. ball tossing: which boosts coordination in aging brains?

NCT ID NCT07182396

First seen Jun 26, 2026 · Last updated Jun 26, 2026

Summary

This study compares two fun activities—video games and ball tossing—to see if they can improve eye-hand coordination in older adults (60+) with mild cognitive impairment. Over 6 weeks, 34 participants will practice either a tapping game or ball exercises. Researchers will measure coordination using a standard test to find out which activity works better.

Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only — not medical advice or a prediction.

Active substance

video games and ball tossing exercises

What this could lead to

If successful, this could point toward simple, enjoyable activities that help older adults with mild cognitive impairment maintain hand-eye coordination and daily independence.

What could go wrong

This is a very small early-stage trial (34 people) with no blinding or control group, so results may not be generalizable. The interventions are low-risk but may not produce meaningful improvement.
