NCT ID NCT06939296
First seen Jun 27, 2026 · Last updated Jun 27, 2026
Summary
This phase 3 trial tests whether VCT220, a daily pill that targets GLP-1 receptors, can help overweight or obese adults lose weight. About 840 participants will take either a high dose, low dose, or placebo for 12 months. The main goals are to see how much weight they lose and how many lose at least 5% of their body weight.
What this could mean
Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only — not medical advice or a prediction.
Active substance
VCT220 (a GLP-1 receptor agonist pill)
What this could lead to
If successful, this could offer a new daily pill to help people with obesity or overweight lose weight and improve related health issues like prediabetes or high blood pressure.
What could go wrong
This is a phase 3 trial, but results are not yet public. The drug may cause side effects, and weight loss may vary. It is not a cure for obesity, and long-term use may be needed.
