First seen Dec 26, 2025 · Last updated Apr 29, 2026 · Updated 18 times
Summary
This study looked at whether using ultrasound to check children's stomach contents before emergency surgery can help doctors choose a safer way to give anesthesia. The goal is to reduce the risk of stomach contents entering the lungs. 146 children aged 0 to 18 took part, and doctors used the ultrasound results to decide whether to use a gentler or more protective anesthesia technique.
