First seen Jan 10, 2026 · Last updated May 15, 2026 · Updated 24 times

Summary

This study tested a technique called thermocoagulation in 100 children with drug-resistant focal epilepsy. During a brain monitoring procedure, doctors applied heat to the seizure-starting area to create tiny lesions, aiming to reduce seizure frequency. The goal was to see if this could safely decrease seizures by at least 50% and help guide future surgery.
