Texting your way to better health: study tests SMS diet coach for cancer survivors
NCT ID NCT05746195
First seen Jun 24, 2026 · Last updated Jun 27, 2026 · Updated 2 times
Summary
This study tested whether sending personalized text messages could help colorectal cancer survivors eat more whole grains and less refined grains. Forty-six survivors who had finished active treatment received text messages and nutrition materials. The main goal was to see if people would use the system and find it helpful, not to measure long-term health changes.
What this could mean
Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only — not medical advice or a prediction.
Active substance
text message dietary intervention
What this could lead to
If it works, this could offer a simple, low-cost way to help colorectal cancer survivors improve their diet and potentially lower their risk of death from the disease.
What could go wrong
This is a very small, early feasibility study with only 46 participants. It only tested whether people would use the system, not whether it actually improves health outcomes. Results may not apply to everyone.
