Ambulance EEG device could cut critical stroke treatment delays

NCT ID NCT06871969

First seen Nov 01, 2025 · Last updated Jun 14, 2026 · Updated 28 times

Summary

This study tests a portable EEG device called StrokePointer that ambulance crews can use to quickly identify stroke patients who need to go directly to a hospital equipped for specialized clot-removal treatment. The goal is to reduce the average one-hour delay caused when patients are first taken to a hospital that cannot perform this procedure. About 275 adults with suspected stroke will participate, and researchers will check if the device provides clear brain signals and accurately detects the type of stroke.
