Needle instead of scalpel: new sperm retrieval method tested

NCT ID NCT03291522

First seen Jun 27, 2026 · Last updated Jun 27, 2026

Summary

This study tests a non-surgical method to collect sperm from men with a condition called azoospermia, where no sperm is found in the semen. Using ultrasound guidance, doctors flush and suction fluid from a part of the testicle to retrieve sperm. If successful, this could help infertile men become biological fathers without the need for surgery.
