NCT ID NCT07007195
First seen Jun 26, 2026 · Last updated Jun 27, 2026 · Updated 1 time
Summary
This early-phase study tests whether a device that delivers specific smells can reduce cigarette cravings and help people stop smoking. About 132 smokers will use a smartphone app with or without the scent device for a week, then report cravings and quit attempts. The goal is to see if adding scents makes quitting easier.

What this could lead to
If it works, this could offer a new, drug-free tool to help people manage cigarette cravings and support smoking cessation.
What could go wrong
This is a very early, small pilot study (132 people) testing feasibility and initial effects. The approach may not prove effective for quitting long-term, and results may not apply to all smokers.
