First seen Apr 25, 2026 · Last updated Jun 22, 2026 · Updated 8 times

Summary

This completed study looked at how well doctors can detect serious and non-serious side effects of the weight-loss drug Saxenda (liraglutide) in 27 Mexican patients with obesity. The main goal was to track cases of pancreatitis and other possible drug reactions. Patients took Saxenda as part of their normal care, and researchers recorded any adverse events that came up.

What this could mean

Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only — not medical advice or a prediction.

Active substance

liraglutide (Saxenda)

What this could lead to

If successful, this could improve how doctors monitor and catch side effects of Saxenda in real-world settings, leading to safer use for obesity.

What could go wrong

This is a small, observational study with only 27 patients, so results may not apply broadly. It does not test if Saxenda works for weight loss, only safety monitoring.
