NCT ID NCT06426173

First seen Jun 27, 2026 · Last updated Jun 27, 2026

Summary

This study tests whether a 12-week resistance training program can improve physical function, quality of life, and heart-related biomarkers in people with heart failure who are on the waiting list for a heart transplant. Participants will be randomly assigned to either the exercise program or usual care. The goal is to see if strength training can help patients stay stronger and feel better while they wait for a new heart.

resistance training program

What this could lead to

If effective, this exercise program could become a standard way to improve strength and well-being for people waiting for a heart transplant.

What could go wrong

This is a small, early-stage trial with 50 participants, so results may not apply to all patients. Exercise may be challenging for very frail individuals.
