Water delivery and sugar reduction program aims to curb obesity in hispanic families

NCT ID NCT03141346

First seen Jan 07, 2026 · Last updated Jun 18, 2026 · Updated 23 times

Summary

This study tested whether a health education program that focuses on reducing sugary drinks and juices, plus home delivery of bottled water, can lower obesity risk in Hispanic mothers and their infants. Over 200 mother-infant pairs were randomly assigned to one of three groups for 24 months: standard health education, a sugar-reduction program, or the sugar-reduction program with free water delivery. Researchers measured weight, height, and body composition in both mothers and babies to see which approach worked best.
