Can a Valerian-Hop pill boost your brain after a bad Night's sleep?
NCT ID NCT05684523
First seen Jun 27, 2026 · Last updated Jun 27, 2026
Summary
This study tested whether a herbal supplement called Redormin 500 (made from valerian and hop extracts) can help people with occasional sleep problems think more clearly during the day and feel better overall. Forty healthy adults with mild sleep issues took either the supplement or a placebo for three weeks. The main goal was to see if the study methods worked, not to prove the supplement's effectiveness.
What this could mean
Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only — not medical advice or a prediction.
Active substance
Valerian-hop extract (Redormin 500)
What this could lead to
If it works, this could point toward a natural option to help with daytime thinking and well-being for people who occasionally have trouble sleeping.
What could go wrong
This is a small, early feasibility study with only 40 people, so results may not apply broadly. The herbal extract may not improve cognition more than a placebo.
