New 'pulsed field' heart procedure aims to stop AFib without long-term drugs

NCT ID NCT06099730

First seen Jun 27, 2026 · Last updated Jun 27, 2026

Summary

This study tests a new procedure using pulsed field energy to treat atrial fibrillation (AFib), a common heart rhythm problem. The procedure isolates the pulmonary veins and the back wall of the left atrium to stop abnormal signals. About 442 adults with symptomatic AFib will be enrolled and followed for 12 months to see if the treatment is safe and effective.
