Summary
This study tested whether probenecid, a medicine usually used for gout, can help veterans with a type of heart failure called heart failure with reduced ejection fraction (HFrEF). The goal was to see if taking probenecid twice a day for 180 days could improve heart function, exercise ability, and quality of life. The study involved 99 veterans and measured results using heart ultrasounds, exercise tests, and questionnaires.
