Portable 'PICO' device tested to speed healing of stubborn leg wounds

Summary
This study tested whether a portable, single-use negative pressure wound therapy system called PICO could heal hard-to-treat venous leg ulcers better than standard wound dressings. About 142 patients with ulcers that hadn't healed after at least 6 weeks received either the PICO device plus compression therapy or standard dressings plus compression for up to 12 weeks. The main goal was to see if more wounds were completely healed in the PICO group by the end of the treatment period.
