Kids with IBD: are they less fit than their peers?

NCT ID NCT04647578

First seen Jun 27, 2026 ยท Last updated Jun 27, 2026

Summary

This study looked at physical fitness in 100 children and teens (ages 10-17) with chronic inflammatory bowel disease (Crohn's disease, ulcerative colitis, or unclassified colitis) and compared them to healthy kids of the same age, weight, and sex. Researchers measured cardiorespiratory fitness, muscle endurance, strength, speed, and flexibility. The goal was to see if IBD affects fitness levels, since no previous study had examined this in young patients.
