New heart ablation method may spare stomach side effects
NCT ID NCT07612241
First seen Jun 25, 2026 · Last updated Jun 27, 2026 · Updated 1 time
Summary
This study compares two types of heart ablation for people with persistent atrial fibrillation: pulsed field ablation and radiofrequency ablation. The goal is to see which one causes fewer stomach problems after the procedure. Twenty participants will be matched by age and health factors, and their stomach emptying will be measured before and after treatment.
What this could mean
Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only — not medical advice or a prediction.
- Active substance
- Pulsed Field Ablation and Radiofrequency Ablation
- What this could lead to
- If this study shows that pulsed field ablation causes fewer stomach issues, it could point toward a gentler procedure for treating atrial fibrillation.
- What could go wrong
- This is a very small, early-stage study with only 20 people, so results may not apply to everyone. It is not designed to prove long-term safety or effectiveness.
