Scientists test DNA blueprint method to find better treatments for kids with tough cancers

NCT ID NCT02162732

Summary

This study tested whether doctors could quickly analyze the genetic makeup of a child's tumor and use that information to choose a personalized treatment plan. It involved 186 children and young adults (up to age 21) whose cancers had returned or did not respond to standard treatments. The main goal was to see if this complex process—from biopsy to treatment decision—could be done quickly enough to be useful for patients.
