Scientists probe hormone duo for appetite control clues

NCT ID NCT07506369

First seen Jun 26, 2026 · Last updated Jun 27, 2026 · Updated 1 time

Summary

This study looks at how two natural hormones—amylin and pancreatic polypeptide—work together to control appetite and food intake. Eighteen healthy men will receive infusions of these hormones, alone or combined, and then eat a meal to see how much they consume. The goal is to better understand the body's hunger signals, which could one day lead to new obesity treatments.

What this could lead to

If successful, this could help scientists understand how these hormones control appetite, potentially pointing toward new treatments for obesity.

What could go wrong

This is a small, early-stage study in healthy men only, so results may not apply to the general population or lead directly to a therapy.
