One-Time pill aims to zap irregular heartbeat

NCT ID NCT04594746

Summary

This study tested if a single, high oral dose of the heart medication amiodarone could safely and quickly restore a normal rhythm in people with a recent episode of atrial fibrillation (AFib). Participants were randomly assigned to receive either the real medication or a placebo pill, and their heart rhythm was monitored for 48 hours. The goal was to see if this one-time dose could effectively control the irregular heartbeat.
